my final project idea

my idea is to take a picture of a person's favorite item and then shoot a picture of them that shows their personality and connects it to the item. i think this will be fun to shoot and get to know people better, i am not really sure how well this will work out so if when im shooting it, it doesn't work how i planned it to i might alter my plan a little bit but right now i am thinking about shooting
-my dad hunting and hicking boots? binoculars ?
-my sister dancing and dancing shoes? but im not sure about taking a picture of point shoes just becasue i have seen that alot but i dont really know what else i could take a picture of to show that she is a dancer so i think im just doing to have to ask her since i don't know that much about dancing
-my mom reading? or working? since she is a doctor there are alot of cool doctor things i could take pictures of like maybe a shot or something,
i think that if my first idea isn't working out i might want to try going to my mom's doctors office and take pictures of doctor things there. so i think im going to take a picture of my sister then my dad and see how those go and if they don't go very well i will go to my mom's office. its really nice that we have so much time to shoot this assignment so then i can actually have the time to go to my mom's office and this assignment is a good excuse to go there because i barely ever get to.
-i still need to think of 2 more poeple.

cliche pictures

i have seen alot of pictures of barns and a field of flowers or barn doors

this is cliche becasue there are always pictures of people dancing in the sand in a white dress

i think cliches come from people liking a picture of a sunset so they take the same pictures and it just keeps spreading and more people see them and like them so they try taking pictures of sunsets so then pretty soon there are just even more. i am going to try not to just copy pictures that i see other people take.

this is the undeveloped version, on the other picture i didn't have to develope very much i just brought the exposure up a tiny bit.

this is a picture of a chair and scissors, i really like this picture and it was really easy because i didn't have to develope at all even though right here the top of the chair does look a little bit dark.

this is the developed version of some white gloves and a candle.

this is the undeveloped version it is too dark but since there are more blacks it isn't as flat.

this is undeveloped but in this picture i really like how the blanket the candle is sitting on folds and the candle is just like nestled in there.

i liked reshooting this assignment because it made it alot easier to have an idea of what kind of pictures worked and didn't in the first assignment. since i could only shoot after school it was hard since it gets dark so fast so i couldn't use any sun light. i also remember from the first assignment the whites were hard to keep white so i had that in mind when i was shooting so when i took those picture to lightroom they were alot easier to develope.

thanksgiving extra credit

this is my dad cutting the turkey , in between pictures i helped him this year so now i know how, even though it is kind of gross

this extra credit assignment was to take pictures of people eating, making food, or of the food itself. this assignment i shot while i was shooting the portrait assignment.

portrait assignment # 6

this assignment was to shoot pictures of people and one self portrait. i really like shooting this assignnment but it was hard becuase people woudn't hold still and no one would pose for me i just had to shoot them while they were doing stuff so that made it more natural and realistic but i had to turn the shutter speed really far down so they wouldn't be blurry. i really liked this assignment though and i think next year during thanksgiving when i m with all of my family i will still bring my camera and take alot of pictures even if i don't have an assignment.

this is the developed version in lightroom it didn't look this dark but i really like this picture because of the angle and how shiny the ornament is

this is an undeveloped picture of my mom bowling, it took me a long time to find this angle because at first i took pictures of her from the back but then i got the idea to sit right infront of her on the bowling lane and i got a good picture.

this is the undeveloped picture of my cousin kaitlyn

i love this picture because it captures the personality of my cousin perfectly, she always makes that face when she is thinking or laughing or sad or anything she just makes that face.

this is also my cousin kaitlyn and we were playing scrabble and my family likes to cheat so she was looking up a word. i like the scrabble pieces infront of her like that.

this is developed and i just had to put that exposure up a little bit.

this is a picture of my sister bowling and she was telling us how this new bowling ball was going to knock down all of the pins everytime so we better watch out. im really glad i had my camera in my hand and was able to take this picture in time to capture that moment.

this is developed and it helped alot to be lighter so now you can see her eyes better.

final 6 favorite pictures

these are my top 6 favorite pictures. i chose most of them from my black on black and white on white assignment. that was my favorite assignment and i think my pictures turned out the best on that one because i took the most time on it. it seems like the longer i take on shooting an assignment then i think of alot more things to take pictures of and it just takes off from there.


this is a picture of a plastic bag, i liked how it was so shiny and the texture looks really cool but one thing i don't like about this picture is that i didn't really think it out, i just pointed and clicked and i think if i would have placed it somehow more interesting it would have been better

i like this picture, it is of a scrabble game my mom and sister were playing and i actually thought about what angle would be best to take it from. i wanted to make the scrabble game look like it went on for a really long time and i think i accomplished that. it was really hard for me to decide where to focus on this though. at first i focused at the end of the picture and this one is of the front but i liked them both and it was hard to chose but this one has more space that is in focus so i chose this one.

these three next pictures are of my mom's purse, i moved it around alot and zoomed it pretty far. i think these pictures are my favorite out of all of the pictures i took and out of these this picture is my favorite. i like the different textures and the how the metal is shiny, i also like how rich the black is

on the blog this picture looks a little too black but in light room the blacks arent too black. i also like the rich dark black and then the shiny metal and i am glad i didn't include all of the tag in the picture.

this picture is a little bit more boring than the last two because there isn't as much contrast and it is mainly just of the leather strap so this picture doesn;'t hold your attention for long but i still like it



this picture was also kind of just a point and shoot picture but i like how the egg white is shiny and the egg shells are cracked . i think this has good texture but it too is a bit boring

Joe Rosenthal

Joe Rosenthal was a photagrapher who won a Pulitzer Prize. he won it for a WWII photagraph that was iconic. he started to climb this hill to take a picture of the marines putting up the flag but someone told him it was already up but he climbed up anyways. when he got there he saw that one flag was already up but they were also putting up another bigger flag. he was lucky and was getting ready to take the picture but then out of the corner of his eye he saw them bring it up so he had to swing around and hope that the picture turned out well.alot of people thought this picture was staged because it is so perfect but really this picture is real and joe almost didn't get it.he was using a cramera called crown graphic and it is big a nd bulky but it makes a single picture negative that you have to change after every picture so Joe only had one chance since it takes 3 seconds to load. it was very dangerous to be a photagraoher during the war because they had to carry alot of things aroound and they were always in with the action so it was very dangerous. photoagraphers in the war were considered in the army. he was named an honorary marine by the commandment of marine corps. people saw the flag picture as a potent victory photo he became a maneger of the times wide world photos. he died on september 20, 2006 ,

assignment #5

for this assignment we were supposed to shoot all of the pictures from the ground. i didn't have very much time to shoot this assignment but i liked it. at first i didn't know what to take pictures of but then when i was laying on my stomach i saw a scrabble game and a light switch that from the angle i was at made an okay picture.
